Jemeluk Bay is one of Amed's best-known shore-snorkeling areas, with a shallow coral garden, submerged statues often called the underwater temple, and a reef drop-off farther out. It is the third and final stop on our traditional jukung route.

Jemeluk underwater temple and coral garden
The feature commonly called the Jemeluk underwater temple is a group of submerged statues within the bay's snorkeling area. It is an underwater installation rather than an ancient temple ruin, and coral growth and reef fish can be seen around it.
Its exact visibility depends on waves, light and water clarity. Ask your captain about conditions on the day, avoid standing on coral, and keep a respectful distance from the statues and marine life.

Getting to Jemeluk Bay
Jemeluk Bay is a public beach on the main Amed coast road, a short drive from most Amed accommodation. There's no entry fee to the beach itself, and shore access is open to anyone — you don't need to book a tour to swim or snorkel here.
That said, most of the easy shore entry sits over the shallow reef flat; the more interesting drop-off reef and the current-free water further out are easier to reach by boat, which is where a jukung trip adds the most value — it also covers the Japanese Shipwreck and Lipah Bay in the same outing rather than just this one spot.
- Best time: Morning or late afternoon, when the water is calmest; midday can bring more wind and boat traffic.
- Facilities: A few small warungs and shops line the road above the beach; toilets are limited on the beach itself.
- Parking: Informal roadside parking is available near the beach entrances.
