Every picture here was taken on a working jukung off Amed, East Bali, on the trips we actually run: the same outrigger boat, the same captain, and the same three reefs — the Japanese Shipwreck at Banyuning, Lipah Bay and Jemeluk Bay. What the sea looks like changes with the hour and the season, so the sets below are grouped by the time of day each trip goes out.
Sunrise Snorkeling Tour
See this trip →Shot on the earliest trip of the day, before dawn. The boat leaves in the dark so the first stop lines up with the sun coming over the water — the calmest sea and usually the clearest visibility of the day, with almost no other boats at the shipwreck.
Amed Snorkeling Tour by Jukung
See this trip →The morning run, out while the bay is still glassy. Same three reefs as the other fixed trips — the Japanese Shipwreck at Banyuning, the coral garden at Lipah Bay and the reef at Jemeluk Bay — in the light snorkellers usually find best underwater.
Golden Sunset Tour
